About the Office

The Office of Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) is an independent oversight agency created to ensure integrity and accountability within public agencies and entities.  

 

The OEIG’s jurisdiction includes:

  • all state agencies, boards and commissions under the Illinois Governor,

  • the nine state public universities,

  • the four regional transit agencies (CTA, Metra, Pace and NITA, formerly RTA),

  • the eleven regional development authorities, and 

  • all vendors doing business with those entities. 

 

The OEIG’s mission is to investigate fraud, waste, abuse and misconduct, and work with entities to effectuate a highly ethical workforce and enhance good governance in the agencies it oversees.
