The following information about the OEIG is included here pursuant to 5 ILCS 140/4. 

 

Mission Statement: 

The OEIG is an independent oversight agency created to ensure integrity and accountability within public agencies and entities. The OEIG’s mission is to investigate fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, and work with agencies to effectuate a highly ethical workforce and enhance good governance in the agencies it oversees.

Number of OEIG Employees:  

Approximately 85 full-time equivalent employees.  

The Executive Ethics Commission has the authority to promulgate rules governing the investigations of the OEIG, 5 ILCS 430/20-15(1), and to appoint a Special Executive Inspector General in certain circumstances.  5 ILCS 430/20-21.
